This Friday night is your opportunity for an adventure packed with music and art!
Whether you’re going out solo, with friends, newly in love, maybe looking for love, or perhaps your existing love life needs a boost with some laughs and good vibes, have I got a night of spontaneous awesomeness for you!
Start in Mankato…
Get inspired at Twin Rivers Council for the Arts with the opening of Two Friends: New Work by Liz Stensland & Brittney Wegener. It’s at the Emy Frentz Gallery in downtown from 5-7 pm. Enjoy food and live music by Harris Deno and Shawn Bagley and of course ART! Even if you’re not “artsy,” it could be fun to pretend to be. “Yes, quite!”
Whether you’re going out solo, with friends, newly in love, maybe looking for love, or perhaps your existing love life needs a boost with some laughs and good vibes, have I got a night of spontaneous awesomeness for you!
After enjoying the gallery, you could wander on over to LocALE to catch Vinyl Night with DJ Jameson & DJ Shoba! They’ll be spinning records from 7-10 pm. Can you recall the last time you went out dancing? Bust a move with these two local favorites. More awesome, LocALE will be hosting Vinyl Night on a monthly basis.
To keep your adventure rolling or for some potential soul-gazing over candlelight, Laura and Colin from Goodnight Gold Dust will be at the Wine Cafe playing songs of old and new on their acoustics. They will be live from 8:30-10:30 pm.

Then Head to North ‘Kato!
At this point, I’m thinking it would be fun to get a little rowdy. Time to cross the bridge and arrive at The NaKato who are releasing their very own line of beer in collaboration with Mankato Brewery! They’re actually tapping the beer at 5 pm, so if you wanted, you could bookend your Friday night awesomeness by starting and ending at the NaKato.
The touring band, Good Morning Bedlam, will be playing from The NaKato from 9-11 pm. Check out their bio.
“Good Morning Bedlam has become an innovative force in the Midwest folk scene and beyond with 10 national tours in over 30 states. Their shows are known for their contagious energy, with members careening about the stage, jumping and dancing with a wild playfulness. With tight soaring three-part harmonies, and thumping kick-drum, they captivate their audience night after night with no intention of slowing down. Every song is a unique twist on what is generally dubbed as folk music.”
And there, my friends, you have my suggestions for a Friday night filled with art and music awesomeness.
