Mankato  – The Blue Earth County Historical Society is excited to announce a special addition to its current exhibit, TOYS! featuring an impressive private collection of Star Wars memorabilia from Mankato collector Wally Boyer.

The limited-time display features memorabilia from across the Star Wars saga, with toys spanning nearly every category imaginable. Boyer has assembled a vast array of items inspired by the beloved movies, creating what many collectors would consider the envy of the universe.

Boyer said this collection has been a family collection starting back in 1979. “It’s fun for us and was something the whole family could do,” Boyer said when asked why he started collecting Star Wars Memorabilia. This is just some of what you can hear on Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m. when visitors will have the opportunity to hear Boyer share the story behind his remarkable collection and his lifelong passion for the iconic film series Star Wars.

The special exhibit also celebrates “May the 4th Be With You,” the unofficial fan holiday honoring the enduring popularity of Star Wars. On Thursday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the celebration continues at Jake’s Stadium Pizza. Pop-culture enthusiasts and longtime pizza fans alike are invited to stop in and explore how the films inspired a galaxy of collectibles and devoted fans.

Boyer’s display will be on view for a limited time as part of the Historical Society’s TOYS! exhibit, offering visitors a chance to experience one of the region’s most extensive private Star Wars collections. The History Center is open Tuesdays-Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission charged for non Blue Earth County Historical Society Members.
