Saint Peter – Following the popularity of last year’s inaugural flower-pounding and eco-printing classes for kids and adults, the Arts Center of Saint Peter will offer expanded classes in both techniques this July and August.

“Summer Flower Pounding and Crafts with Montana Tolzman” takes place on Sunday, July 19, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 2, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Cost is $75 per person, and the minimum age is 16. Advance registration is required at artscentersp.org/classes or through St. Peter Community and Family Education.

“Eco-Printing with Joel Moline and Montana Tolzman” takes place on Wednesdays, August 5, 12, 19, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Cost is $75 per person, and the minimum age is 10 (ages 10-14 must be accompanied by a paid adult participant). Advance registration is required at artscentersp.org/ classes or through St. Peter Community and Family Education.

Both classes involve foraging for flowers, leaves, and walnuts at nearby Mill Pond Park; learning and practicing techniques to release the foliage’s vibrant natural pigment; and creating functional objects such as hand-sewn bags and greeting cards with the fiber and paper participants will have embellished during the first two class meetings.

The Arts Center also offers summer instruction in basic ceramics for one or two learners at a time, ages 10 and up (ages 10-14 must be accompanied by a paid adult participant). Descriptions and registration links are at artscentersp.org/classes

These activities are made possible through grants from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council and the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
