A Tribute to our Vietnam and other veterans
State Street Theater is pleased to serve as the culmination point of a day dedicated to memorializing veterans, Thursday, October 13. Especially being recognized are local veterans who lost their lives in Vietnam. They are Daniel Lloyd, Henry Polzin, Steven Seemann, Ricky Slander, Timothy Sullivan, and Dennis Wellmann. The dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be held in German Park commencing at 3:00 p.m. Among the honored guests will be family members of these heroes.
Following the afternoon in German Park, the recognition effort continues at 7:30 p.m. at the State Street Theater. The Fabulous Armadillos will present their concert, “What’s going on – Songs from the Vietnam War Era.” The cadence of that time in history will bring back memories for many and will surely touch emotions. These well-known artists perform the music of a variety of tribute groups, encompassing music from Motown and Soul, to Woodstock, the Eagles, the 80’s and more.
Theater doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the concert at 7:30. Other than a designated seating area for certain guests, there is open seating. Ticket prices are $15 for veterans and $25 for others. They are available at Hy-Vee, New Ulm Chamber of Commerce, at the theater weekdays between 9 am. and 4 p.m., using door 7 off the theater’s back parking lot, on Eventbrite, or by calling 507-359-9990. Tickets have been moving very well, so a sell-out is expected. At this time, the theater has limited ADA seating available. While there is some parking behind the theater and access from stage door 7 there, other parking is available on the street and at nearby lots as noted on the SST web site.
Ordinarily, State Street could not afford to bring a show of this quality to its viewers. SST is grateful for the generosity of two benefactors, who have made this performance possible. To further honor our vets, the theater will be donating a portion of the evening proceeds to a worthwhile area veterans project.
