For the fourth year in a row mom and daughter, Cheryl and Alaena Klages, have partnered to work on an entry for the Mankato River Builders Association’s Raw Fusion Fashion Show. It’s also the second year the team has included Brianna Long.
“This is my fifth year entering Raw Fusion for various sponsors,” Cheryl said. “This year and last year I’ve been sponsored by J Longs/Chris’ Tailor Shop. The theme of the show this year is Candyland so we’re doing Victorian Cupcakes for our costumes!”
Cheryl explained, “Brianna, Alaena and I collaborated on everything. The three of us brainstormed and came up with a plan we all liked. I’m doing the basic construction and the girls are doing the detailing. Alaena and Brianna are the models.”
“It’s just a super-fun event to be a part of or to just go watch”
“It’s just a super-fun event to be a part of or to just go watch,” Alaena said. “It’s definitely worth the price of the tickets. Each year they pick a different charity. Because of donations all the expenses are covered so all the ticket money is given to the charity. A lot of hard work goes into every piece and it’s really cool to see what everyone has come up with.”
The beneficiary of this year’s show is the Educare Foundation whose mission is to provide financial support for Mankato Area Public Schools beyond the normal operating budget.
The show is Friday, May 11th at the Verizon Center Grand Hall. Tickets are available at the Verizon Center Box Office, Monday-Friday from 10 am-5 pm and on Ticketmaster. Doors open at 7 pm and the runway show starts at 8 pm.
