The Mankato Symphony Orchestra Introduces its Music on the Hill series: Blue like an Orange

    September 10th, 2024

Mankato — The Mankato Symphony Orchestra’s (MSO’s) chamber music series Music on the Hill kicks off its season on Sunday, September 22 at 3pm in Trinity Chapel on the campus of Bethany Lutheran College.

The series features a beautiful array of instrumental masterpieces, performed by topflight musicians. MSO Executive Director and pianist Bethel Balge will be joined by violinist Stephanie Arado, and MSO Principal cellist Sharon Mautner-Rodgers in a program titled Blue like an Orange. The program features three piano trios, including Beethoven’s earliest Piano Trio in E-Flat Opus 1, No. 1, Louise Farrenc’s elegant Piano Trio in D Minor, Opus 34, No 2 and living composer Tina Davidson’s ‘Blue like an Orange’. Blue like an Orange is described as a ‘reverie about the earth—blue, rotating with fire and passion, throwing out sparks of energy until it finally breaks open to a melodic rush of harmonies and colors”.

The 2024/25 Music on the Hill series features intimate groups of three to five musicians performing inspired works by great composers. Music on the Hill concert goers will be treated to unique opportunities to observe high end performing up close and Trinity Chapel is the perfect venue for such a concert. Concert goers have an opportunity to meet and speak with the performers after the concert.

Early Bird Specials on season passes are in effect through September 15. Tickets may be purchased online at MankatoSymphony.org or by contacting the box office at 507-933-0441. Tickets are also available at the door on the day of the concert
