Community members invited to participate
Mankato — The annual Greater Mankato Grateful Giving kicks off November 1 as a way for community members to be mindful of what they have and give back to local organizations working to prevent hunger and homelessness.
Participants can view or download the calendar at MankatoUnitedWay.org/grateful-giving.
Greater Mankato Area United Way is hosting the activity in collaboration with organizations that participate in Regional Homeless Response Teams.
Each day in November, community members are encouraged to make a small donation, such as “Deposit $0.50 if you have enough blankets to keep you warm at night.”
At the end of the month, participants donate their collection to a local organization of their choice. A list of suggested area organizations is included with the calendar.
Families, workplaces and other groups often participate together.
“Grateful Giving is a simple but powerful activity to encourage gratitude while also helping community members in need through regional organizations,” said United Way’s Community Impact Director Sarah Buesing.
