Project Community Connect Offers Free Resources: April 19

    Seeking donations of diapers, personal care items

    MANKATO—Individuals and families throughout the region are invited to the annual Project Community Connect free resource event from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato.

    The goal of Project Community Connect is to reduce poverty and homelessness by providing access to many resources all in one place, including housing, employment, disability, food, legal and more. The event is set up like an expo, with dozens of regional service providers available at booths to provide resources and answer questions.

    In past years, several hundred guests from the nine-county region attended.

    Free grab-and-go lunch is provided to attendees. Other free offerings include haircuts, hygiene/household items, health screenings and government ID vouchers while supplies last.

    Interpreters available. City of Mankato will provide free transit rides.

    Limited vendor space remains.

    Donations needed by April 1: Seeking unused/unopened personal care items, including: children’s diapers; children’s hygiene items; cleaning wipes; toothpaste/toothbrushes; shampoo/conditioner; deodorant; body wash; pump hand soap, laundry soap; tissues; paper towels; toilet paper. Drop off at Lloyd Management (135 W Lind St, Mankato).

    Volunteer interpreters needed: Visit MankatoUnitedWay.org/PCC to sign up.
