Because I’m in love.
I’ve been a Mankato or North Mankato resident for the past twenty years minus a couple of short absences. I’ve tried to flee south… twice. Neither time took.
Mankato Is Home!
After my latest attempt to move to Alabama I had the first of two insights that led to this publication. I realized Mankato was home. I actually loved the area! With this insight came a decision to choose to love it even when I wasn’t feeling it so much. You know, on those twenty-below blizzardy kind of days. I’m choosing to focus on all of the good things here and to do whatever I can to make it better.
The only good reason to launch a venture like this was because I would love to
I’ve been toying with the idea of a site like MankatoLIFE.com for at least fifteen years. This year the itch was a little stronger since I was in a great position to do something different but for many reasons I was reluctant. That’s when the second insight struck.
For The Love Of Mankato
The only good reason to launch a venture like this was because I would love to. I would love to build a platform that highlights the hidden gem that is our region. I would love to do the web development. I would love to focus on food and drink. I would love to get to know local artists and artisans, musicians, food producers, bar and restaurant folk as well as local shop owners. I would love to add something beautiful and useful to our larger community, hopefully with ever-increasing artistry and excellence.
Many of us realize that Mankato and the surrounding communities are just right. There is way more going on around here than most people realize

My heart’s desire is to shine a light on this delightful part of the world. There are bigger, more sophisticated places but many of us realize that Mankato and the surrounding communities are just right. There is way more going on around here than most people realize.
One of our chief aims, with the help of all of you, is to ferret out all the good stuff and put it in one easy-to-use place so everyone can find it.
